Construction of Mehr High School in Gaz Manzel, a village located about 150 km northeast of Chabahr near the Pakistan border in Sistan & Balouchestan Province of Iran with a population of 1,500, was completed and officially opened in the fall of 2018.

 

It serves students up to Grade 12. The previous schoolhouse was built over 30 years ago, and it was an unsafe 4-room crumbling structure serving 101 girls and 100 boys up to grade 6.

Additional Supports/Facilities Provided by Hami Canada:

  • Potable water: Underground & aboveground water reservoirs & pumps, water cooler, and refrigerator.

  • Sports equipment: Ping pong table, soccer balls, net, and jumping ropes.

  • Renovation of living quarters for non-local teachers.

  • Women’s empowerment project - Conducted handicraft workshops to promote local industry & financial independence for women.
