Hami Canada’s privacy policy is based on the principles of the Canadian Standards Association Model Privacy Code for the Protection of Personal Information.

Hami Canada is responsible for all personal information collected through its events and website, including any personal data transferred to third parties for handling or administrative purposes.

We keep personal information in strict confidence. All employees, agents (including authorized volunteers), and authorized service providers of Hami Canada are required to protect the confidentiality of our clients’ personal information.

We will indicate the purpose(s) for collecting personal information wherever possible when the information is collected. Consent Personal data is obtained lawfully and fairly.

We collect, use or disclose personal information only with permission of our clients, except where otherwise required or permitted by law.

Client permission may be expressed (orally, electronically, or in writing) or implied (by an action or inaction). Clients may withdraw their authorization or choose not to disclose their personal information at any time. We will comply, subject to legal, contractual, or technical restrictions.

When visiting the Hami Canada website, your personal information will be collected only when you contact Hami Canada, using the “Contact Us” feature or when you make a donation. “Personal information” includes any information about an identifiable individual, such as your personal email address. “Personal information” does not include business contact information, such as your name, title, position, or business address. Hami Canada will assume that the information entered is part of your business contact information, unless specified otherwise.

The information provided by you through the Hami Canada website may be used to extend communications with you, including responding to your inquiries or sending you information that is believed to be of particular interest to you. Hami Canada may also share your information with trusted third parties with whom Hami Canada conducts social or commercial interactions, to improve the technical, functional, and content aspects of the Hami Canada website.

Identical to other commercial websites, user trends are tracked for the Hami Canada website, and preferences are monitored using a browser feature called ’cookies’. Clients can choose to disclose as much or as little personal information as they are comfortable with.

 Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

We will only use or disclose the client's personal information for the purposes explained to the client when requested. Client information will not be disclosed without prior written and voluntary knowledge and consent, except as permitted by law. We do not sell client's personal information. The retention period for which client information is held on record before it is securely and irreversibly destroyed will depend upon the retention requirements specific to the services that our clients’ access from our agency at the time that they access them.

 

Accuracy:

We assume that the information provided to us is accurate. If at any time client personal information changes, we hope to be informed of it immediately. If clients believe any of the information we have collected about them is incorrect or incomplete, they have the right to ask us to change it or delete it. If their personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, we will make the necessary changes.

 

Safeguards:

We maintain appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect all personal information in our possession. Access to client personal information is restricted to Hami Canada employees, agents, and authorized service providers who need the information to fulfill the purpose of the collected data. We will protect client personal information by safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of that information and the format of the information, whether electronic or physical.

 

Openness:

Hami Canada’s Privacy Policy is available at all times on our website. If you cannot access our website or require our policy in another format, we will do our best to provide it in an alternative format that meets your requirements. Any updates to this policy will be announced and dated at the top of this publicly available page. Individual Access Clients are free to inquire if we hold any personal information about them on file. Upon their request, we will also provide them with access to the information and inform them what it is being used for, if applicable. We ask that they submit their request in writing. We will also need to confirm their identity before disclosing any information to them.

Challenging Compliance.

 If you have any privacy concerns, please submit your concern via info@hamicanada.ca. We will investigate all concerns and complaints. If an objection is justified, we will take all appropriate steps to repair the situation, including changing our policies and practices if necessary.
